Summer at Trešnja 2026: Four Days of Theatre, Creative Workshops and Family Fun in Zagreb

Trešnja Theatre is once again bringing its beloved annual event, Summer at Trešnja, transforming the theatre and its courtyard into a vibrant summer oasis filled with performances, creative workshops, and fun activities for children and families from June 13 to June 16.

Summer at Trešnja Brings Theatre Magic for the Whole Family

For the fifth consecutive year, Trešnja Theatre is celebrating the end of the school year and the start of the summer break with a unique festival dedicated to imagination, creativity, and outdoor family entertainment.

Every day from 7:00 PM, visitors can enjoy a rich program that combines theatre, play, learning, and socializing in a relaxed summer atmosphere.

Theatre Performances to Kick Off the Summer Holidays

This year’s program features two popular children's productions:

June 13–14

Hansel and Gretel
A magical stage adaptation directed by Lea Anastazija Fleger.

June 15–16

The Smartest Giant in Town
Based on the internationally acclaimed picture book by Julia Donaldson and directed by Sanja Hrenar.

Free Workshops and Activities Included with Every Ticket

The theatre performances are just the beginning of the summer adventure.

All visitors with a valid performance ticket will have free access to a wide range of accompanying activities, including:

• Creative arts and crafts workshops
• Children's cooking workshops
• Face painting
• Outdoor retro games and play zones
• Storytelling sessions in the Theatre Library
• Screenings of beloved animated films from Zagreb Film
• Interactive family activities and entertainment

To make the experience even more enjoyable, Trešnja Theatre, in partnership with Lidl, will provide a special refreshment corner offering water, juices, and snacks for children and adults throughout the event.

Workshop Registration

All ticket holders for Hansel and Gretel or The Smartest Giant in Town are eligible to participate in the workshops and additional festival activities free of charge.

As workshop capacity is limited, advance registration through the official registration form is required.

• Workshops on June 13 and 14 are intended for children aged 5 and above.
• Activities on June 15 and 16 are designed for children aged 2 and older.
